Things to do on Bedarra Island and the Great Barrier Reef
The magic of Bedarra Island is that, as you leave behind the bustle of daily life and unwind to the gentle rhythm of island time, you will find you enjoy the simple pleasures just as much as the more adventurous activities. To do, or not to do? At Bedarra Island, the choice is yours.
Nature Walks and Swimming
Lose yourself in the cool and calm of the rainforest on one of the many nature trails. Stroll the uninhabited powder-white beaches. After swimming or snorkelling in the clear waters of the Coral Sea, doze on the sand as the waves lap at your toes.
We hiked every trail, snorkelled, kayaked, fed the eel, and totally relaxed like never before. We love and cherish this magical place.
The lookout points dotted across Bedarra Island are a spectacular place for solitude, meditation, a romantic picnic, or to enjoy a glass of wine with your loved one at sunset. Your personal caretakers will provide you with information on the area and can suggest the best places for picnics and sundowners.
You need not venture far for a swim with the sea lapping at your doorstep and a saltwater plunge pool off your bedroom that is so private clothing is optional.
At East Bedarra Island Retreat a kayak is always at your disposal so you can explore Bedarra Island from the calm waters of the Coral Sea.
Snorkelling and Scuba Diving
With the warm tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef at your doorstep, your retreat at East Bedarra Island provides the perfect opportunity to explore one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Snorkelling equipment and the perfect launching pad come with the package at East Bedarra Island Retreat, however should you wish to go further afield to the outer reef and try scuba diving, there are many operators to chose from. Each is a little different and we're happy to advise.
If you'd like to catch your own dinner, hand lines and tackle are provided on East Bedarra Island Retreat. For the more avid fishers, private and fully-catered charters can be arranged.
For the ultimate thrill, skydiving with Jump the Beach is one of the most scenic in Far North Queensland with views over the islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
We're happy to help you to organise this and any other activities that interest you before you arrive at East Bedarra Island Retreat. Please make enquiries to Sharon by email or phone (07 4067 5311 or mobile: 0408 903 104 or international +61 7 4067 5311).
